Accessibility

Our commitment

We design and build for the web, which means accessibility is our job twice over — once for this site and again for every site we ship. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA on nuuxstudios.com, and when we fall short of it we treat that as a defect rather than a nice-to-have.

This statement covers nuuxstudios.com. It does not cover work we have built for clients on their own domains, which is governed by what we agreed with them.

What we have done

Most accessibility decisions are settled in our design system before they reach a page, so they get made once rather than argued screen by screen.

Colour. Every text and surface pairing in the system is checked against WCAG contrast ratios — 54 pairings across light and dark modes, all passing AA. One exception is documented on purpose: the hairline used for decorative dividers sits below 3:1, so it never carries meaning on its own and never marks an interactive control.

Focus. Every interactive component has a visible focus ring at 2px with 2px of offset. Not a 1px hairline, and never removed.

Targets. Interactive controls are built to a 44px minimum touch target.

Text. Body copy is 16px at 150% line height, set to a measure of roughly 75 characters, and it resizes with your browser settings rather than being pinned to a fixed size.

Dark mode. Dark mode is a real theme with its own checked contrast values, not a filter laid over the light one.

Where we fall short

An honest list is more useful than a clean one.

Content published before our current design system does not always meet the standard above. We are working through it rather than leaving it.

We fix these as we find them, and the date at the top of this page moves when we do.

Third-party content

Parts of this site come from other people. The site runs on Webflow, typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts, and some pages embed video or forms from third parties. We pick accessible providers where we have the choice and we report problems to them, but we do not control their code. If a third-party element is blocking you, tell us and we will find another way to get you the same content.

How we test

Colour pairings and token use are verified in the design system before a page is built. Beyond that we check pages with automated tooling and by navigating them with a keyboard only.

Automated tools catch a minority of accessibility problems. Where this statement claims conformance, treat it as our honest assessment rather than the result of a formal third-party audit.

Tell us if something is broken

If something here is hard or impossible to use, we want to hear about it — it is a bug and we will treat it as one.

Email hello@nuuxstudios.com with the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. If you can, tell us the browser and any assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within five working days and to tell you what we intend to do about it.

Standards and law

We hold ourselves to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. In the United States, Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act applies to businesses open to the public, and Section 508 sets requirements for federal agencies and their suppliers. Neither prescribes a single technical standard for a private company’s website, which is why we name WCAG 2.2 AA as the bar and measure ourselves against it.
